Medicine Ball Sit Ups We all know about sit ups, if only because we were required to do them in a physical education class at some point in our lives. Yet, some of us might not know that there are quite a few variations on the sit up. Consider Medicine Ball Sit Ups, exercises that combine the common sit up with the use of a medicine ball, a weighted fitness ball that is about the size of a basketball. Medicine Ball Sit Ups are one of many ways to strengthen and flatten stomach muscles.
Medicine Ball Sit Ups involve performing normal sit ups with the back flat on the ground, knees bent, and feet flat. With medicine ball in hand and a partner standing at his or her feet, the individual flattens the small of his her back against the ground. Then, performing a normal sit up, but only enough to lift the shoulders about 6 inches off the ground, the individual tosses the medicine ball to the partner, holding the sit up position until the partner tosses the ball back. After catching the medicine ball, the individual returns to original position, performing the routine again and again. In the process, he or she should be working to flatten stomach regions through this potentially difficult exercise.
