Hanging Leg Raise The Hanging Leg Raise is one of a number of exercise routines that may function in multiple ways, helping to strengthen the arms and chest while also helping to flatten stomach regions. The exercise requires that individuals possess access to a chin up bar. The Hanging Leg Raise might be considered an advanced abdominal workout that is considerably more difficult to perform than are some other routines.
To perform a Hanging Leg Raise, one must grab onto the chin up bar with an overhand grip, rather than an underhand grip. Then, with knees slightly bent and legs suspended from the ground, the individual pulls his or her hips upward, drawing the knees toward the chest as high as possible. It is also good to hold this position briefly at the summit of the motion in order to maximize the effects of the exercise and to significantly strengthen and flatten belly regions. The individual then returns to the original hanging position and repeats the exercise multiple times over. The Hanging Leg Raise is said to be especially helpful for working on the lower abdominal muscles, since these muscles must be used in order to bring the lower body upward while hanging from the chin up bar.
